Jay Weinberg, former Slipknot drummer, steps away from Suicidal Tendencies after nearly two years to focus on personal endeavors.
Jay Weinberg has announced his departure from Suicidal Tendencies after almost two years of drumming with the crossover-thrash band. The drummer, known for his previous work with Slipknot, revealed that his decision is influenced by his upcoming role as a first-time father and his desire to dedicate more time to personal projects.
Weinberg has been expanding his creative pursuits in recent months, notably with his debut single Sandstone, featuring George Clarke from Deafheaven. He has also been nurturing his visual art project, Portraits of an Apparition, which combines drumming, mixed media, and experimental imagery.
In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Weinberg expressed gratitude for his time with the band, thanking them for “an incredible year and a half of shows” and reflecting on the joy of collaborating with the Suicidal Tendencies family and the global Cyco fans. He noted that, with the arrival of his first child, his focus will shift to his creative projects and becoming a father.
While no longer part of the band, Weinberg reassured fans of his ongoing passion for the music community and hinted at new artistic endeavors in the works
